TALENT TRENDS
Between 2000 and 2010, the minority population grew from 86.9 million to 111.9 million, representing a 29 percent increase over the decade. In 2010, minority groups comprised 36 percent of the U.S. population, and minorities comprised more than 50 percent of the population in three major metropolitan areas: California, Texas, and District of Columbia. The state of California has the largest minority population at 22.3 million people. As the economy improves, it is important to stay ahead of the curve in order to leverage the workforce as a competitive advantage. Business leaders who are strategic about talent will pay attention to diversity with particular emphasis on retaining their most valued employees.

Talent Advisory Board Inc. was founded by Tina Paikeday with the social mission of fostering a greater level of understanding between people of diverse backgrounds. Tina began her work 15 years ago when she co-authored the Survey of Multicultural Experiences and Attitudes of Undergraduates at the University of Virginia as Co-Chair of the institution's Cultural Resource Center. The study created a baseline to serve as a launching pad to advance diversity initiatives among the students, faculty and administration.
Since then, Tina has continued her pro-bono work by serving the following organizations: Jefferson Scholars Foundation, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, the Taproot Foundation and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Alumni Interview Program.

She has also served as a community leader in the non-profit sector to provide minorities and women with mentors and leadership development opportunities to succeed professionally. Tina was the Founding Board Chairwoman for the Network of Indian Professionals and Indus Women Leaders. She has also worked to empower minorities and women through entrepreneurship as a Washington, D.C. Charter Member of the Indus Entrepreneurs.
